Built for the club long before it was built for release, Don Diablo’s rework of A$AP Ferg’s ‘Plain Jane’ arrives today on HEXAGON as an official collaboration between the two.

The result is a high-energy collision of electronic music and hip-hop, pairing Ferg’s unmistakable vocal with Diablo’s club-driven production.

Notably, Diablo originally made his version as a weapon for his own sets while touring Saudi Arabia with Quavo and Metro Boomin, with no intention of putting it out. “Every time I played it, the reaction got bigger. It just kept growing organically until it became one of the biggest moments in my set,” he said.

“The fact that Ferg and I are now able to release it together as an official collaboration feels full circle. Sonically, it’s the perfect marriage between where I come from as a producer and where my sound is heading next,” Don Diablo added.

Meanwhile, the release sits in the same vein as his March collaboration with Wiz Khalifa and functions as a natural follow-up. It marks the next major hip-hop link-up from his forthcoming FLUX album, which has already yielded work with Wiz KhalifaBipolar Sunshine and Pink Sweat$.

Crucially, ‘Plain Jane’ is one of Ferg’s signature records. The original has passed 800 million Spotify streams, and various versions have surpassed a billion combined, cementing it as a modern hip-hop anthem. This release continues to link his electronic roots with a new generation of hip-hop collaborators. Stream via HEXAGON.
